Course Description: 2 years Pre-Sea (Engineering)

Aim of the course
To provide suitable scope for the candidates to achieve the competence level for certification, as Watch-keeping
Marine Engineer Officer (Class 3) of seagoing merchant ships and, of Bachelor of Maritime Science (Engineering) Degree.

Objective of the course
On successful completion of the training and assessment the engineering cadets will be competent to carry out safely the watch keeping duties of an officer-in-charge of an engineering watch in a manned engine-room or designated duty engineer in a periodically unmanned engine room, both at sea and in port.

Course Description: 2 Year’s Pre-Sea (Nautical)

24 months education and training at the Academy.
12 months shipboard training at sea (sea service) out of which minimum 6 month as a
junior bridge watch-keeping officer under the supervision of a certified officer (ref: A-
Ill 1)documented in an approved training record book.

Aim of the course
To provide suitable scope for the candidates to achieve the competence level of certification, as Watch Keeping Deck officer (class 3) of seagoing merchant ships and. Bachelor of Maritime Science (Nautical Degree).

Objective of the course
On successful completion of the training and assessment the nautical cadets will be competent to carry out safety’ the watch keeping duties of an officer-in-Charge of a Navigational watch, both at sea and in port.

Eligibility of a candidate (for Both)

i) Educational Qualifications:

SSC or equivalent (Science) => Minimum GPA 3.5
HSC or equivalent (Science) => Minimum GPA 3.5
In HSC, minimum grade in Physics & Mathematics is to be 3.50 individually. In English, grade is to be minimum 3.00; however if it is less than 3.00, IELTS score 5.5 will be accepted.

A & O-Level :
a. A-level certificate in Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics(Minimum Grade ‘C’ individually )
b. O-level certificates in Five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English (Minimum Grade ‘C’ individually)

ii) Other Qualifications:

1. Age limit: Maximum 21 years (Year of application). The date of birth is recognized as per S.S.C or equivalent examination certificate. Affidavit will not be accepted.
2. Nationality: Candidates must be nationals of Bangladesh by birth or domicile as per national legislation duly certified by competent authority.
3. Marital Status: Unmarried.
4. Height: 5′ -4”
5. Weight: Proportionate BMI
6. Medical Fitness: Must be medically fit and eyesight standard as prescribed in STCW code.

Methods of the Admission:

  •  Applications (downloaded form the site) are received continually.
  • A date-line is fixed and all the received application on and before this date are secularized by the course coordinator.
  •  A merit list, basing on the individual result of the SSC and HSC examination , is prepared with these application.
  • Students have to attend an interview in a fixed date.
  • All interviewee should fill up the admission Form and submit to the course coordinator before commencement of the interview.
  • The selection is finalized according to the interview score.
  •  Selected applicant are informed of their result and instructed to submit the course fee in the form of cheque, pay order or bank draft; but not cash.
  • On the joining day all the selected candidates fill up the course Registration Form.
  • Course outline shall be provided by the course coordinator.
